Indeed all praise is due to Allah; we seek His help, and we seek His forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our souls and the evil of our actions. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever Allah misguides, none can guide. We bear witness there is no diety worthy of worship except for Allah, the One Who has no partner, and we bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ is His servant and messenger.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
(Quran 3: 102)
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.
He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
(Quran 33: 70-71)
The truest of word is the Book of Allah and best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammadﷺ. The worst of things are those that are newly invented; every newly-invented thing is an innovation and every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire.
May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his noble family, his companions and all those who follow their guidance till the Day of Qiamah.
My dear respected brothers & sisters;
Allah SWT has Names and Attributes by which we may know Him. One of these is Al Ghafur, The Forgiver. It is derived from the root word غَفَرَ. The basic meaning is "to cover, to shield, to protect", besides "to forgive".
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri RA reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “There was a man among the children of Israel who had killed ninety nine people. Then he set out seeking repentance. He came upon a monk and he asked him if his repentance would be accepted. The monk said no, so the man killed him. He continued asking until another man advised him to go to a certain village. He set out for it but death overtook him on the way. As he died, he turned his chest toward the village. The angel of mercy and the angel of punishment argued about him among themselves. Allah ordered his destination to move closer to him and his old village to move away. Then, Allah ordered the angels to measure the distance between his body and the two villages. He was found to be one span closer to his destination, so he was forgiven.”
SubhanAllah. If a murderer of a hundred people was not just forgiven but actually helped by Allah to achieve forgiveness, then we should have high hope in the Mercy of Allah. Allah is indeed Al Ghafur.
Allah SWT says:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the Mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
(Quran 39: 53)
In another narration, Umar ibn al-Khattab RA reported: Some prisoners of war were brought to the Prophet ﷺ and a nursing woman was among them. Whenever she found a child among the prisoners, she would take it to her chest and nurse it. The Prophet ﷺ said to us, “Do you think this woman would throw her child into the fire?” We said, “No, not if she was able to stop it.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah is more merciful to His servants than this mother is to her child.” (Highlighting Allah wants to forgive and does not wish us to be afflicted by hellfire; that the garden is supposed to be our final abode).
Therefore never despair of the Mercy of Allah. The most important factor is our own intention and willingness to change to be a better person.
Abu Dharr RA reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Allah Almighty says: Whoever comes with a good deed will have the reward of ten like it and even more. Whoever comes with an evil deed will be recompensed for one evil deed like it or he will be forgiven. Whoever draws close to Me by the length of a hand, I will draw close to him by the length of an arm. Whoever draws close to Me the by length of an arm, I will draw close to him by the length of a fathom. Whoever comes to Me walking, I will come to him running. Whoever meets Me with enough sins to fill the earth, not associating any partners with Me, I will meet him with as much forgiveness.”
Remember that Allah's help is always close. May Allah SWT give us tawfiq to benefit from what has been shared today. Ameen.
Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.
