Special Invitation

All praise is due to Allah SWT, Lord of the worlds, The Cherisher, The Sustainer.
May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad
, his noble family, his companions and all those who follow their guidance till the Day of Qiamah.

Dear respected brothers & sisters;

Alhamdulillah, we thank Allah SWT for the blessings of Jummah and for allowing us to gather here today.

We remind ourselves to fear Allah SWT as He should be feared. Fear Allah in all places and in all situations, at home and at work, in public and in private, and do not transgress His limits.

When the Rasul (or Messenger) of Allah, Muhammad  was asked about God, Allah inspired him  to say:

Say, "He is Allah, The One and Only;

Allah, the Eternal; Absolute;

He begets not, nor is He begotten;

And there is none like unto Him."

(Surah Al-Ikhlaas; Quran 112:1-4)

By the Mercy of Allah, He has made knowing Him easy through Surah Al-Ikhlaas (or Surah At-Tauhid) that takes us only a few seconds to recite, but the true meaning of these four short verses is extremely vast.

Allah SWT tells us He is The One and Only God, The Only One worship is due, our Only True Source of refuge and help.

Allah The Eternal, without an origin or ending; Allah The Absolute, not limited by time, space or circumstance.

Allah, without need of parents to exist, nor children to continue to exist.

Nothing in creation can compare to Allah Who Stands Alone without any equal or partners.

Dear respected brothers & sisters;

If we ever wonder about Allah, know that Allah is Qareeb or near.

Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Baqarah

(As translated):

And when My servants ask you,

[O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

(Quran 2:186)

And Allah SWT says in Surah Qaaf:

(As translated):

And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein.

(Quran 50:16)

So after Allah reveals that He is close to us, why do we sometimes feel far from Allah?
Who moved? Allah, or us?

Therefore respected congregation, we must make special efforts to know Allah, for how can we know someone if we don't know anything about them?

We can start with knowing the Names of

Allah (Al Asma Al Husna), for Allah has revealed some of His Beautiful Names as a means for us to know Him and get closer to Him.

One such name is Al-Qareeb, the Near One, Who is closer to us than our jugular veins, He who Hears and Sees everyone and everything, Who Knows our needs, whether we ourselves know them or not.

Secondly, we can contemplate on the words and meanings of verses we use in our dua, salah and when reading the Quran. By having full concentration and conviction, inshaAllah we would develop a closer relationship with Allah, as if we are communicating directly with the Al-Mighty.

Thirdly, we should observe our surroundings; Allah's Ayat or Signs are everywhere, in nature, even within ourselves. Once we realise this, we have no choice but to feel awe and gratefulness towards Allah.

May Allah SWT bless us and our families, guide us to always feel close to Him. Ameen.

Second khutbah:

Respected brothers and sisters;

The last part of every night is a special time for every Muslim. Every single night, Allah SWT sends an invitation to us, to avail of His Bounty.

Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:

The Messenger of Allah  said, “Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven in the last third of every night, and He says: Who is calling upon me that I may answer him? Who is asking from me that I may give him? Who is seeking my forgiveness that I may forgive him?”

By Allah's Rahmah, this invitation happens every single night. We do not need to wait for Ramadhan or go to Hajj. We can answer Allah's invitation in our own homes, but we need to fight sleep and tiredness.

Let us take this golden opportunity to answer Allah's special invitation, and pray just 2 rakaat before the time of Fajr, to make dua and ask for Allah's forgiveness.

We ask Allah SWT to forgive us, and admit us and our loved ones into His Jannatul Firdaus.

May Allah SWT give us tawfiq to benefit from what has been shared today. Ameen.

Dua:
